Thrust Bearings

Thrust Bearings

Thrust Ball Bearings - single row consist of one row of balls which rotate in a single direction. They are mostly used for low speed applications and can accommodate axial loads in one direction.

Double row consist of two rows of balls which rotate between a centre shaft washer and two housing washers. This bearing should be used when a thrust load is applied in two directions. They should not be subject to radial loads.

Roller Thrust Bearings can support much greater thrust loads than a ball thrust type.

Fluid Film Thrust Bearings - sections of this bearing type float onto segmented regions of oil inside the bearing which eliminate metal on metal contact.
